Gmail virus
Gmail, the new google email service, is the rage these days. According to some sources, they have just activated 3,000 odd email accounts. But more than a hundred thousand people want one. The demand is insane, while the supply is kept under strict control.To add more fun, google launched a viral marketing campaign for gmail. After one month of being a member of gmail, people can invite 3 of their friends to become gmail members too.
Gmail was already backed by a great brand - google
+ it gave something that their competition didn't - 1gb email space
+ they started a viral marketing campaign.
If all goes well, Gmail will be the new hotmail.
Oh and the viral campaign is generating its own publicity too. Tony Pierce offers a contest for his blog readers with gmail account as the award!
