Thats exactly what Stephen Rumney is doing. Rumney developed each of his art pieces into a website and sells it for an insane amount.

"The person who buys a particular artwork will own a piece of global real estate. Not only do they buy the rights to a work of art to be shown in a gallery, they also own the website and can view their artwork on it."

Art gets top price. Why?
Because its scarce.

Make your product a bit artistic. A bit "ipodistic". Invest a bit in your packaging. And then charge top dollars for your product.
Make your product scarce. Curb the supply a bit. Make people wait for it. And then you'll be able to charge top dollars for your product.
