Sneak Peek: Retail Store of the Future
Ain't that a futuristic lookin' pic of a fingerprint?
No cash. No credit cards. The future is paying with your finger prints.
Customers of the German supermarket chain EDEKA in the southwest German town of Ruelzheim have been able to pay for their shopping by a fingerprint-pay-system for some time now. And the company plans to equip more of its stores across the region with this technology.
According to Roland Fitterer, the store manager, customers need to register once with their identity card and bank details, then they can shop straight away. The scanner compares the shopper's fingerprint with those stored in its database along with account details. Read the entire article: EDEKA offers a fingerprint-pay-system option
This new technology is shortening the queue lines at the check out counter, and is more safe than credit cards. Its both - time efficient and money efficient!

But something is about to happen with all the money so many firms have invested in researching new biometrics stuff. Airports are using fingerprinting technology since one and a half years now, to keep a record of all the immigrants and tourists coming into America. Can fingerprint transaction systems be far away from your local WalMart?
Two big boys in the computer world (Dell & Microsoft) have come out with their own fingerprint recognizing hardware in the last year. These hardware allows a person to store his passwords and retrieve them with his fingerprint, instead of typing them out. But can online fingerprint transactions be far away?
